Turnip Soup

Posted by Mrs Holman on Monday Jan 30, 2017 Under Uncategorized

This week children in Nursery and Reception have enjoyed making turnip soup after spending time learning the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’. The children had to peel and slice the vegetables to prepare them for the soup. Ollie Clark said “the potatoes were quite hard to cut but the mushrooms were soft!”.  Harry Cleverly enjoyed the soup so much he asked for a third portion.

Permaculture and Play

Posted by Mrs Holman on Sunday Jan 22, 2017 Under Uncategorized

Reception have been extremely lucky to have the opportunity to spend their Friday afternoons with Mrs Pedrick learning some valuable permaculture and play skills. Children  have had a go at pushing and steering the wheelbarrows, digging mud with spades and  using the roundhouse for role play. Mrs Pedrick said ‘the standard of imaginative play was superb’ and that the children ‘are becoming very competent at removing and putting on their own boots’. I am looking forward to joining the children next week. Remember parents/guardians are welcome too!

PE

Posted by Mrs Holman on Thursday Oct 6, 2016 Under Uncategorized

We have already learnt some new skills in PE. We have been rolling balls accurately by using an aiming arm, bending down low and releasing the ball smoothly. Look at us using our skills to roll the ball into flower pots, through tunnels, along a bench, over a bridge and to knock down cones.

Donkey Visit

Posted by Mrs Holman on Thursday Oct 6, 2016 Under Uncategorized

Last Friday two donkeys came to visit Wilcombe. Reception and Park Hill spent time learning information about how to look after donkeys and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. The children were very excited to finally meet and stroke the two donkeys in the front playground. Some of the children were quite surprised by how soft they were and thought it was hilarious when both donkeys decided to do a poo.
